Abstract

Introduction: Calcium hydroxide is considered as one of the first preferences in multiple-visit root
canal medication. Bioglass, which is composed of 45% SiO2 , 24% Na2 O, 24.5% CaO and 6%
P2O5, developed in the year 1971 as a novel material with antimicrobial properties. Antimicrobial
nanoparticles, due to their unique physio-chemical properties, show effects opposing resistant
pathogens in pharmaceutical science.
Aim: The aim of the present study was to characterize a novel nano bioactive glass (BAG-np) based
intracanal medicament and assess its antimicrobial activity.
