Background: Isotretinoin remains an effective treatment for severe acne, but hepatic laboratory abnormalities and experimental testicular injury have stimulated interest in protective interventions. Green tea polyphenols possess biological activities relevant to these effects, although concentrated extracts can themselves produce hepatic injury. Aim: To critically evaluate the pharmacological rationale, hepatic and male reproductive evidence, and translational limitations of green tea polyphenols during isotretinoin
