Abstract

Background: The Ling Six Sound Test uses /m/, /u/, /a/, /i/, /ʃ/, and /s/ to provide a rapid functional assessment of auditory access across the speech-frequency range. Although widely applied in cochlear implant rehabilitation, the acoustic realization of these sounds varies with age, language, dialect, and phonetic context.
