Background: Onconephrology is an emerging subspecialty addressing the complex, bidirectional relationship between kidney disease and
cancer. Patients with solid malignancies frequently develop acute kidney injury or carry pre-existing chronic kidney disease, both of which worsen oncological outcomes and complicate therapeutic decisions. The kidneys serve as the primary route of drug elimination, rendering them uniquely vulnerable to chemotherapeutic, targeted, and immunological agents. Understanding the spectrum of renal disorders in this population is essential for optimising cancer treatment, adjusting drug dosing, and improving patient survival.
