Background: Metronomic chemotherapy, defined as the continuous administration of low-dose cytotoxic agents without extended drug-free intervals, has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy aimed at minimizing toxicity while maintaining antitumor efficacy. Capecitabine, an oral fluoropyrimidine prodrug widely used in breast and gastrointestinal malignancies, has been increasingly investigated in metronomic regimens due to its favorable pharmacokinetic profile and tumor-selective activation. This approach is particularly relevant in patients with limited tolerance to conventional chemotherapy, including those with early-stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), where treatmentrelated toxicity may compromise adherence and outcomes.
