Background: Functional constipation is one of the most frequent gastrointestinal disorders in childhood and is particularly disruptive during the elementary-school years. Although the disorder is defined by bowel symptoms, its consequences extend to pain, appetite, sleep, emotional well-being, peer relationships, school participation, and family life. This narrative review examines the pathways through which functional constipation affects health-related quality of life and translates the evidence into practical recommendations
