Abstract

Background: Atrial septal defect (ASD) is one of the most common congenital heart diseases requiring surgical intervention when
transcatheter closure is not feasible. Median sternotomy has traditionally been the standard surgical approach, offering excellent exposure and reliable outcomes. However, advances in cardiothoracic surgical techniques have led to the development of minimally invasive approaches, particularly right anterolateral thoracotomy, which aim to reduce surgical trauma while preserving the safety and efficacy ofconventional  methods
