Abstract

Background: Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) remains a frequent and life-threatening complication of liver cirrhosis, contributing substantially to morbidity, mortality, and health care utilization. Early diagnosis is critical, as prompt initiation of empirical antibiotics significantly improves outcomes.
