Abstract

Mental health crises, especially in post-pandemic India, have necessitated innovative, culturally responsive
therapeutic strategies. This paper investigates the transformation of Deccan miniature painting into animated
therapeutic interventions for enhancing mental health care within the medical humanities framework. By
merging traditional visual culture with contemporary animation, this research develops a culturally embedded
art therapy model that addresses emotional expression, stress reduction, and cognitive stimulation. The
methodology involved selecting narrative-rich Deccan miniatures, adapting them into culturally sensitive
animations, and piloting them with patients experiencing depression, anxiety, and mild cognitive impairment
