A form of crowd-lending, peer-to-peer lending is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as NBFC-P2P lending. Although peer-to-peer lending has been around in India since the beginning of this decade (20112020), the “Reserve Bank of India (RBI)” did not include it in its purview until 2017 when it issued its Master Directions. There is no doubt that the regulations are a positive indicator that will augur the expansion potential of “peer-to-peer lending” while simultaneously instilling a sense of trust and confidence in the individuals who participate in peer-to-peer lending.
