Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of 476 potential instances of back pain in Thi-Qar City,
spanning from February 24, 2020, to March 26, 2023, and following the implementation of physical exams,
laboratory tests, and radiographic imaging methods such as X-ray, computed tomography (CT) scan, radionuclide
scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A total of 301 persons were recognized as being affected with
brucellosis. Simultaneously, the other 175 patients presented with alternative etiologies for their back pain.
Approximately 67% of the patient cohort had acute symptoms, while subacute symptoms were seen in about 23% of
the patient group. Chronic symptoms were seen in around 10% of the patient group. Drinking unpasteurized milk
has been recognized as the main mode of sickness transmission. The most often seen symptoms of the disease
included fever, excessive sweating, headache, chills, joint pain, muscle pain, and spinal complications such as
discitis, spondylitis, and spondylodiscitis.
