Abstract

The kinetics of the oxidation of atorvastatin (ATV) by chloramine-T (CAT) in a hydrochloric acid solution both uncatalysed and catalysed by Th (IV), have been investigated at 303K. The reaction stoichiometry was established and the oxidation products
were identified. In both catalysed and uncatalysed reactions, the reaction exhibited first order with respect to [CAT], while exhibiting fractional order with regard to [ATV], [HCl], and Catalyst Th (IV). The reaction's rate is not significantly impacted by its products. In both catalysed and uncatalysed processes, the dielectric constant has a marginally unfavourable impact.
