Objetives: to evaluate whether, after a handball match, the players present changes in the pain threshold to the pressure of the shoulder muscles and if there is a correlation with their mood. Material and method: involving 12 healthy subjects, male and right-handed (28.46 ± 5.48 years; 179.72 ± 5.22 cm; 86.56 ± 13.59 Kg). A pressure algometer was used to evaluate the nociceptive mechanical threshold and the Mc Nair questionnaire (POMS) in its short form for mood. Results: fatigue factor (t = -4.408, p < 0.001), and force (t = -4.259, p < 0.001) present a significant increase, but not for tension (t = 0.088, p = 0.931). The nociceptive mechanical threshold of shoulder musculature increases. Conclusions: after a handball match the players suffer an increase of fatigue factor and a decrease of vigor, remaining unchanged the tension factor. There is also an increase of the UMN (hypoalgesia) in all the analyzed muscles of the shoulder. There is a positive correlation between psychological fatigue and UMN of the shoulder muscles, and a negative correlation between the force and the UMN in the JBM after a handball game.
