Abstract

Background: Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and chronic periodontitis are two chronic inflammatory conditions that exhibit a bidirectional relationship. Poor glycemic control in diabetic patients exacerbates periodontal disease, while periodontal inflammation may worsen glycemic control.
