Abstract

Background: Pyelonephritis is a serious and widespread infection of the kidneys, commonly caused by Gram negative bacteria. This study aims to evaluate the immunomodulatory roles of sST2 and CXCR3 in the blood serum of patients suffering from acute and chronic pyelonephritis.
Objectives: The main objectives of this study were to: Investigate the serum levels of sST2 and CXCR3 in patients with acute and chronic pyelonephritis. Compare the levels of these biomarkers between pyelonephritis patients and healthy controls. Determine the potential of sST2 and CXCR3 as diagnostic indicators for pyelonephritis.
