Aim: to test the efficacy of a combined aerobic and resistance therapeutic physical exercise program in the treatment of the sequelae in breast cancer survivors (BCS). Material and method: this is a randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) with two groups in parallel. Twenty-two BCS were randomized into an intervention group (n = 11) and control group (n =11). Cancer-related fatigue (CRF), health-related quality of life (HRQOL), and cancer-related pain (CRP) were assessed at the beginning of the intervention, after the intervention, and at one month after completion. Results: the therapeutic program has revealed that the experimental group improved more than the control group with respect to the CRF; in the global score (p = 0.002) and in the factors referring to the dimension of behavior/severity (p = 0.004), sensory (p = 0.020), cognitive (p = 0.0016) and affective (p = 0.003). There were no statistically significant improvements in HRQOL or CRP. Conclusions: the combined aerobic and resistance therapeutic exercise program is more effective than usual care in improving CRF in BCS. Furthermore, it causes minimal clinically relevant changes in overall quality of life and emotional function of the HRQOL.
