Abstract

Rheumatoid pelvispondylitis, is a reumatological disease involving an inflamatory process which affects the pelvis and rachis. Other articulations, especially the coxo-femorals, may be affected due to its frequency and gravity. Other manifestations of an extra-articular nature may also be involved.
We agree with the French school of thought as regards the denomination rheumatoid pelvis¬
ondylitis suggested by De Seze in 1954 as a substitute for ankylosing spondylitis (proposed by the American school) as the evolutive potential of the disease is extremely variable and evolution to¬
ards ankylosis is not constant.
Our aim is to outline basic clinical concept and then analyze essential evaluation to be carried out before adapting physiotherapeutic treatment to the condition of each patient.
Finally treatment aimed at pain relief rigidity and deformity shall also be discussed.
