SYSTEMATIC REVIEW ABOUT THE EFFICACY OF KINESIOTAPE FOR HE TREATMENT OF DYSMENORRHEA

Introduction: dysmenorrhea, menstrual pain, is the leading cause of gynecological consultation among young women. It has a high prevalence and high rates of scholar or work absenteeism. Dysmenorrhea influences labour productivity and economic expenditure of the countries, regardless of its level of development. Pain is the main symptom, although it can be accompanied by dizziness, vomits and physical discomfort, among another symptomatology. Objective: to analyze the efficacy of kinesio taping in the treatment of pain caused by dysmenorrhea. Material and method: a systematic review was carried out using the databases PubMed, Cochrane Library Plus, Pedro and CINHAL, from January until May 2022.The studies included were published during the last 5 years in Spanish, English or French; they had to have a design as systematic review, meta-analysis, randomized clinical trial, longitudinal study or transversal study 2 cohorts, developed in humans of al least 18 years old, with a diagnosis of dysmenorrhea. Pain was the main outcome. PEDro scale was used to analyze studies quality. Results: our studies were selected. All of them were randomized clinical trials (RCT´s). Conclusions: this review found an improvement in the treatment of pain due to dysmenorrhea. The quality level of the studies is medium or low. More research is needed and with more quality, in order to obtain stronger recommendations.
