Background: axillary web syndrome is a complication of axillary clearance of breast cancer surgery. This syndrome is characterized by cords of subcutaneous tissue extending from the axilla into de medial arm, axillary pain that radiates down the arm, and limited shoulder range of motion. Purpose: here we report the Physical Therapy intervention in axillary web syndrome. Case description: the patient was a 46-year-old woman underwent breast cancer surgery including axillary lymph-node dissection with pain, numbness and limited shoulder range of motion of her right arm three days after surgery. Outcomes: following seven physical therapy interventions the patient's numb-ness and pain were alleviated and the lost mobility recovered. Conclusion: this case shows the relevance of an early physical therapy intervention of axillary web syndrome.
