Background: Sleep disturbance is frequent during pregnancy and often persists after childbirth. Poor sleep overlaps clinically and biologically with perinatal depression and anxiety, yet sleep symptoms may be normalized as an unavoidable feature of pregnancy and remain untreated.
Aim: To synthesize evidence on pregnancy-related sleep change, its association with postpartum depression and anxiety, and practical opportunities for prevention and early intervention in family medicine.
