Background: Acute pediatric cannabis intoxication has emerged as an increasingly important public health and toxicological concern following the expanding legalization of medical and recreational cannabis and the widespread availability of high-potency cannabis products, particularly edible formulations. Young children are especially vulnerable because of exploratory behavior, lower body mass, immature metabolic pathways, and increased susceptibility to the central nervous system effects of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Although most pediatric exposures result in complete recovery with supportive care, an increasing number of children present with severe neurological and cardiorespiratory complications requiring intensive care
