Abstract

This study examines the issue of fake discounts in e-commerce and explores how consumers recognize and respond to deceptive pricing practices. As online retailers increasingly inflate original prices or overstate discounts, the research investigates how shoppers use available tools to verify the authenticity of discounts. An online survey with 102 participants was conducted to assess their online shopping habits, trust in ecommerce platforms, and actions taken after encountering fake discounts. The study also examines the influence of social media on consumer perceptions and the use of price comparison tools.
