Abstract

This paper includes a comprehensive review of studies on fasting and its impact on metabolic health, chronic disease prevention, and overall well-being. This research work shall therefore endeavour to discuss the physiological, clinical, and therapeutic implication of fasting in evidence based on Ayurveda as well as the Allopathic systems. Today, fasting, meaning the act of fasting for some specific hours only, has for longtime history in Ayurveda as a way of cleaning the body and having healings termed Upavasa.
