Abstract

Background: Breast carcinoma is a disease which is suffered by most of the women in India.
The most prevalent cause for deaths in India is breast cancer. The greatest survival rates out
of all the types of cancer are of breast cancer.An abundant rise is seen in breast cancer
survival rates after there are developments in surgical techniques, radiation and
chemotherapy. There are various ways to treat breast cancer like surgical, systemic (include
hormonal therapy, chemotherapy) or radiotherapy. In mastectomy, partial or complete
removal of breast tissue is done. Also, sometimes tissue surrounding the breast and lymph
nodes are also removed. People are unaware or have lack of knowledge regarding risk factors
and complications post mastectomy. Post surgicaldrawbackscan materialized after any
surgical procedure; there may be drawbacks namely bleeding, seroma, delayed lesion
mending as well as infection. Also pain in muscles and bones can occur with an alteration in
range of motion or shoulder dysfunction.
