Abstract

Benzene joins a 1,4-thiazine ring to form benzothiazines, an important group of heterocycles. As part of our ongoing research into new ways to make molecules that have biological effects, we were interested in making different heterocyclic structures with thiazine rings. This is due to the fact that heterocyclic structures are a necessary component of many physiologically active, naturally occurring compounds.
