Abstract

 
Background: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) largely affect all professions, causing substantial economic losses due mostly to ignorance and lack of prevention by companies and workers. 
Objective: To determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and pain intensity in taxi drivers of the company Padrón S.A, Cuenca March - August 2023.  
Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study. It was carried out in the taxi company Padrón S.A. Standardized Nordic Questionnaire and Analog Visual Scale were used to assess the pain, the data were collected in KoboToolbox; for the variables were reported in percentage and frequency or measures of central tendency and dispersion according to their classification; estimated the 
prevalence ratio and 95% confidence interval was used the Chi Square test for comparisons. The analysis was performed with SPSS 22.0. 
 Results: 27 male taxi drivers between the ages of 21 to 65 years who work more than 8 hours a day participated. The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders was higher in the lumbar area (81.48%) with pain <4 cm classified as mild. The relational variables showed no statistically significant relationship (p 0.05).  
 Conclusion: Low back pain was the most prevalent musculoskeletal discomfort in the taxi driver population.
