Abstract

Dalit trauma, collective and individual, spawn from centuries of casteist oppression and suppression. This intergenerational trauma is ingrained into their psyche and gone deep in their being. Being excluded and dispossessed, they are denied of their primal needs which has triggered in them a constant sense of anxiety and insecurity. While the upper castes are in the pursuit of the fulfilment of
the higher functions of life, they are on the lookout for the next meal. The system has made it almost impossible for them to fend off the spectre of poverty with a decent means of life. There are boundaries drawn around them and restrictions imposed upon them that keep them always in their prearranged predicament and block all prospects of development.
