Abstract

Objective: to determine the effects of a therapy that combines therapeutic exercise with kinesio taping in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain. Participants: sample of 8 patients aged between 25 and 60 years with chronic non-specific low back pain. Intervention: 15 sessions of exercise therapy and 3 applications of kinesio tape were performed. Patients should continue doing exercises and postural recommendations for 3 more weeks. Results: there was an average pain reduction of 1.72 ± 2.66 and 3.57 ± 1.76 in short and medium term (NRS), differences in the level of functionality of 25.1 ± 19.03 % and 29.4 ±17.9 % in short and medium term (Oswestry), and an acceptable adherence to the treatment of short duration (Control Sheet). The quality of life perceived and opinions about the treatment received were positive (Satisfaction Questionnaire). Conclusions: this combination therapy is a valid and beneficial option as a treatment for patients with chronic non-specific low back pain but still requires further conclusive studies and reviews that could guide decisions at clinical settings.
