COMPARATIVE STUDY OF PHYSIOTHERAPY IN THE MEMBER COUNTRIES OF THE UNION EUROPEAN. EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT LEVELS

This article compares the current situation of Physiotherapy in the European Union at both levels, educational and professional. With data received from these countries and the European Region of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy, it is developed a presentation of such representative variables at this both levels. Differences observed at the educational level originates the free-movility limitations that live the current EU physiotherapists. With the Boulogne Treaty, these differences are planned to be reduced. According to the professional level, the main differences are in unemployment measures and in the relation between the amount of population per one physiotherapist, being Spain and Austria countries with less physiotherapists. This article comes to the conclusion that exists big differences in the Physiotherapy training programs and in the professional field, and that with the collaboration between Member States through the Boulogne Treaty it will be created a positive atmosphere in the professional promotion through the European Union and a higher inter-change/movility of physiotherapists.
